Tottenham could now offer £42m player in swap for Chelsea target

Brennan Johnson is wanted by both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur with swap deals seemingly being explored.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham are willing to offer cash plus defender Sanchez for Johnson.

Forest value Johnson at around £50million and Tottenham seemingly have no plans to pay that kind of money

They want to bring the fee down by sending players to Forest – and centre back Sanchez appears to be one option.

This comes after The Telegraph reported earlier in August that Tottenham were offering up three players to Forest.

That report highlighted Joe Rodon, Djed Spence and Bryan Gil as players being offered up to Forest.

Rodon has since moved on to Leeds United but Sanchez is seemingly replacing him as an option for Forest.

The Colombian, signed for £42million from Ajax back in 2017, ideally needs a fresh start away from Tottenham and Forest is being touted as a possible desitnation.

Whether Steve Cooper and co have any interest in that kind of move remains to be seen but Tottenham are trying to engineer an exchange.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have the same idea with Brennan Johnson

This comes amid claims from The Guardian that Chelsea are also trying to sort out a swap deal for Brennan Johnson.

The Blues have been trying to sign a winger of late but saw Michael Olise snub a move and commit his future to Crystal Palace.

That means Chelsea are looking elsewhere now and Forest star Johnson appears to be a prime target.

The Guardian suggested that discussions had been held over a potential exchange, though no names were mentioned.

Forest have though been linked with the likes of Ian Maatsen, Trevoh Chalobah and Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer, so they could be on offer.

In truth though, we can’t see Forest accepting this kind of offer.

Forest will want pure cash if they are going to sell their star attacker; everyone knows that those game-changing forwards cost top money and Forest would need to replace him.

Taking in Sanchez just wouldn’t really help the Forest cause and we think Tottenham will have to pay up if they want him.

Hailed as a ‘fantastic player’ by boss Cooper, Johnson is vital to Forest and they will drive a hard bargain from Chelsea and Tottenham in the final weeks of the window.
