Liverpool eyeing PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko in January

Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, who are keen to sign the Egypt international before the summer transfer window ends on September 7.

The Etihad made an offer worth £150m which was immediately rejected by the Reds, but they are not ready to give up yet. The Saudi club are believed to be back with a higher offer as they look to convince Liverpool to offload one of their best players.

The Merseysiders’ stance remains that Salah is not for sale. Speaking at Friday morning’s pre-match meeting, Jurgen Klopp claimed the 31-year-old is committed to the club and that he wants Salah to stay at Anfield despite the Etihad’s determination to sign him .

At this week’s leadership meeting, he was fully engaged. I have to face the truth, and my truth is: “Everything is fine, we are here, everything is fine”.

Liverpool want to keep Salah until at least next summer, but if they fail to reach an agreement in the coming days, a return in January is possible at the Etihad.

Klopp has a history of signing replacements early and with Salah looking increasingly likely to leave Anfield at some point in the next 12 months, Liverpool could be looking to bring in a winger this winter.

The Express claim that Liverpool have identified Bakayoko as the Egyptian’s replacement and may formally acquire the PSV star in January.

The Belgium international has been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window, including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Brentford, Liverpool, Everton and Burnley.

According to the Daily Express , Tiemoue Bakayoko has rejected a £34m move to Brentford to join PSV in the Champions League. However, he could be tempted by a move to Liverpool in the winter transfer window.

Bakayoko is considered one of the best talents in the Eredivisie after his outstanding performances at PSV. He spent last season with the Red and Whites as they finished second in the Eredivisie and won the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruyff Shield. Bakayoko played 39 times in all competitions for PSV last season, scoring 9 goals and providing 6 assists.

The versatile striker has featured in six games and provided four assists for PSV, who have taken six points from their first two league games.
