In a recent report, the Daily Mail provided an update on Everton’s pursuit of Leeds United winger Wilfried Genunto this summer. The Toffees have reportedly had their £15million bid for the Italian winger rejected.

Gnunto’s stellar season in the Premier League

The 19-year-old has proven his worth as a valuable contributor to Leeds United but failed to lift them out of the relegation zone last season. Genunto played 28 times on behalf of the White team in many games last season, scoring 4 goals and assisting 4 times.

The Italian star has excelled in the opposition half, averaging 0.9 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League to his credit. In England’s First Division he completed 77% of his pass attempts (statistics from whoscored) and he was even very careful with his passes in the final third.

His current contract at the Yorkshire club expires in the summer of 2027. Therefore, if the Toffees want to bring him to Goodison Park in the off-season, they will have to pay a lot of money.

Should Everton boss Sean Dyche return to Genotto?

Gnunto is an excellent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make several dangerous runs with the ball on the wing. He has a sharp eye, is able to deliver some decisive passes in the opposition half and is capable of pure long-range shots.

The Italian talent is primarily a left-winger but can also play as a right-winger or, if required, play as a No. 10.

We can expect Genonto to bring more firepower to Everton boss Sean Dyche’s attacking department. He has the quality to fight for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park next season. The 19-year-old Italian winger has the potential to be a generational talent, making him an excellent long-term option for the Merseyside club to pursue this summer.

Genunto might even help the Toffees out of relegation in the upcoming Premier League campaign. Therefore, Dyche should consider returning to this Leeds United talent before the end of this summer’s transfer period.
