The Belgian midfielder, who has been sidelined since picking up an injury in the first half of City’s Premier League opener against Burnley, gradually returned to training and took a playful light touch on the ball in his first appearance.

Kevin De Bruyne trains with his Manchester City teammates in Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup semi-final against Urawa Red Devils. However, star forward Erling Haaland was not in attendance as he is dealing with a foot injury.

By their standards, the Citizens have won just one of their six Premier League games in the past month and are in poor form and in desperate need of a boost. Indications are that De Bruyne looks very close to returning, with Guardiola hoping the 32-year-old can solve City’s problems.

Manchester City will face Urawa Red Devils in the Club World Cup semi-finals on Tuesday. The winning team will advance to the finals to face Brazilian side Fluminense. Manchester City will resume Premier League action against Everton on December 27 after the Club World Cup.
