Crystal Palace eyeing former Aston Villa starlet and £20m-rated Olis replacement

HITC Football understands that with one of the best attacking talents outside the so-called ‘Big Six’ expected to be the subject of widespread interest in the summer, Crystal Palace are planning to return to familiar hunting grounds in search of a replacement.

Michael Ollis is reportedly keen on a move to his boyhood club Manchester United – with Crystal Palace snapping up the silky Frenchman from Reading for £8m three years ago.

Led by highly-rated director of football Dougie Freedman, the London side have made a habit of bringing some of the Championship’s top talent to Selhurst Park. HITC have now been told that Palace are eyeing two second-tier stars should Ollis leave.

Sunderland talisman Jack Clark and Hull City winger Jaden Philokine are candidates to follow in the footsteps of Ollis, Eberle Eze and Adam Walton.

Both Clark and Philokine have played for Premier League clubs in the past. The former was a rising star at Leeds United and struggled at Tottenham Hotspur, but has flourished since returning to the English Football League, scoring 15 goals from the wing, while Raising his market value to around £20 million.

HITC understands Sheffield United, Burnley and Lazio have also been interested in Clark in recent months. However, with Sheffield United and Burnley seemingly returning to the Championship, both clubs will struggle to pay the fee Sunderland want.

Meanwhile, Philokine is a graduate of the Aston Villa academy. The England Under-21 international has been a revelation since joining Hull City permanently, with Rabona’s goal against Rotherham the highlight of a fantastic season.

Crystal Palace are keen, although Oliver Glasner’s side hope Aston Villa opt out of bringing Philokine back to the Midlands However, Hull City confirmed the Champions League chasers have £15m in Philokkin’s contract repurchase terms.

“Ridiculous. (His talent) is ridiculous,” Hull City manager Liam Rosenior told Yorkshire Live of the “outrageous” Philokine (Philogene), who scored 8 goals and had 6 assists in the 2023/24 season. “The more games he plays, he’s only going to get better.”

“It’s not just his goals or moments. It’s his energy level for the team. He has a real belief that he can be a top player. But he is a top player because he plays Very hard working.

“We have to take him off the training ground because he wants to do extra things.”

HITC Football has also learned that Glasner is keen to bring two of Austrian football’s brightest young talents to south London. Viennese fast duo Matthias Seidl and Leopold Quifield. Palace are also eyeing Juventus’ former Chelsea winger Samuel Illing-Junior.
