Chelsea expected to sign Hazard

The newspaper claims that the Blues’ lack of experienced players could make a surprise move to bring the Belgian striker back to Stamford Bridge. Should Hazard complete a move to west London, he could become an influential figure alongside long-serving Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.

Hazard is currently without a club after terminating his contract with Madrid. He joined from Chelsea in 2019 and has one year left on his contract with the La Liga giants.

The 32-year-old made 76 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists, but had a very disappointing time at the Santiago Bernabeu. He won many titles with Real Madrid, including two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.

However, he only played 10 times last season and contributed 3 goals. The versatile forward failed to secure a starting spot in Madrid due to ongoing injuries and poor form.

Hazard is willing to stay in Spain until the end of his contract with the club next summer, however, Real Madrid want to sell him due to the Belgian’s generous weekly wages.

Experienced reinforcement

Chelsea have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League and bringing in Hazard will help take the pressure off some of the club’s younger forwards, especially summer signing Nicholas Jackson.

Jackson has not had the best start to his Chelsea career, with the Senegal international missing out on a sitter in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. The 22-year-old has featured in all four of the Blues’ league games and scored once.

Hazard is not a center forward but has the ability to be one of the most dangerous attackers in Europe. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he made 352 appearances in all competitions, scoring 110 goals and providing 92 assists.

The former Lille star helped the west Londoners win multiple titles including the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

The 32-year-old has lost his way in recent years but a return to Chelsea could reignite his passion for the game and get him back to his best.
